WNDWShop is a Chrome extension and web platform that serves as a virtual dressing room, allowing users to create personalized avatars and try on clothing from various online stores. It transforms the shopping experience by letting users see how outfits fit and look before making a purchase.
One of the main challenges for us was developing a system that supports photo uploads, real-time capture, and AI-generated avatars while ensuring a seamless and user-friendly experience for all three methods.
Interactive Try-On and Outfit Creation
It was important to create an interactive and intuitive try-on process that allows users to easily try on individual garments and assemble complete outfits, enhancing the overall user experience.
Efficient Outfit Saving System
We needed to design an effective system for saving and managing outfits and clothing items, focusing on ease of use for storing, organizing, and retrieving favorite styles.
Competitor Analysis Insights
We analyzed five competitors, including both mobile apps and browser extensions, to gain insights into their features and user experiences. This research revealed key opportunities for enhancing WNDWShop, including innovative functionalities and design elements that could be integrated to improve user engagement and satisfaction.
Three out of six competitors offer mobile apps, while the others only provide websites.
Questionnaire Integration
Only one competitor includes a questionnaire feature similar to our product.
Resource Availability
All competitors provide useful articles for caregivers, ensuring access to relevant information.
Resource Rating
One competitor offers the ability to rate articles, allowing users to provide feedback on content quality.
Event and Association Listings
Five competitors feature lists of current associations and events, helping caregivers stay connected and informed.
Future Opportunities
Potential enhancements like a caregiver forum and donation features could set our app apart and add significant value.
Some of the competitors offer a possibility for manual review and approval before run any code
Multiple datasources to analyze in one chat
Only two competitors do not have this feature that seems to be really important
Empower Non-Technical Users
All the competitors have simple explanation of data for non-technical users
Schedule analysis
Two competitors offer the ability to schedule analysis. This feature clients include in the future scope.
Follow-up questions
Half of the competitors offer a feature that provides follow-up questions during conversations.
Forecasting
Provide the possibility to give forecasts based on clients' data sources.
Voice & Written Instructions
One competitor offers voice and written instructions for taking user photos, a feature WNDWshop plans to incorporate to enhance ease of use.
Avatar Creation Option
No competitor currently provides the option to create an avatar instead of using a photo, but WNDWshop aims to include this feature to cater to users who prefer not to share personal photos.
AI-Driven Size Recommendations
Several competitors provide size recommendations based on user inputs, and WNDWshop will incorporate AI-driven recommendations to improve fit accuracy.
Save Created Outfit
Three competitors allow users to save images of themselves with the clothes they try on. WNDWshop will implement this feature to enable users to revisit their looks and make informed decisions.
Define Size via Photo
None of the competitors offer a feature that determines clothing size through a photo, presenting a unique opportunity for WNDWshop to innovate in this area.
Cashback Opportunities
Some competitors offer cashback on purchases from partner stores. WNDWshop is considering this feature to add value for users and incentivize their shopping experience.
Information Architecture
Kano model
The Kano model was used to prioritize key features from the competitor analysis for the Newton platform. By classifying features into must-haves, performance enhancers, and delighters, this approach helps determine which functionalities should be implemented to maximize user satisfaction.

Design concepts
The product concept phase involved presenting multiple design concepts to the client, each tailored to meet their needs. We also conducted accessibility tests on each concept to ensure inclusivity and usability for all users.
Accessibility tests
Usability Testing
It was important to check how clear the text on the buttons is and whether it meets the requirements of Contrast Ration (4.5:1).
Color Blindness Test
Also, we conducted Color Blindness Test in order to check how people with different types of color vision deficiency see the colors in our concepts.
Interface design
We began the interface design process with the website concept, which, once approved by clients, guided the development of the extension and web platform. This approach ensured a cohesive user experience with a simple and clear style, utilizing a white-blue-dark color scheme for a modern and intuitive interface.
UI Kit / Design System
We developed a comprehensive design system for WNDWShop, which is applied consistently across platform. This unified approach ensures that the design remains cohesive and visually consistent throughout the user experience.
Usability Testing
The primary aim of this usability test was to evaluate how user-friendly our app is. We wanted to identify any areas where users might encounter difficulties or confusion.
Five-second test
This test helped us understand what information stands out to users at first glance and whether the design communicates the app's purpose effectively.
Label Clarity test
We wanted to ensure that the wording we use is intuitive and that users can easily understand what each button or section is for.
Summary
In the WNDWShop project, we successfully created a platform that supports different avatar creation methods, including photo uploads, real-time capture, and AI generation. Working closely with developers, we ensured the technical feasibility of integrating these features into both the Chrome extension and website. We also designed an intuitive try-on process and a robust system for saving outfits, enhancing the overall user experience. This collaborative effort has resulted in a cutting-edge virtual dressing room that redefines online shopping.
